About Hal

Dr. “Hurricane Hal” Needham is a storm surge scientist who specializes in data-driven storm surge analysis. He is founder and president of Marine Weather and Climate, and directs the U-Surge Project. Dr. Needham received a Ph.D. and M.S. from Louisiana State University, and a B.S. from Penn State. He lives in Galveston, Texas where he leads efforts to help communities prepare for coastal hazards.  


Hal is known for his "no-hype" weather reporting and tells it like it is every day for listeners on RadioGalveston.com
