As a long-time Galveston resident and community leader, Mike is well known on the Island and is the perfect choice to provide the "Scuttlebutt" around town.
The Scuttlebutt introduces you to interesting Island personalities, organizations, events and interviews with community leaders.
Mike Dudas is the Media Arts Coach and lead Audio Video Production teacher at Ball High School and just completed his 13th year of teaching.
He is a longtime member of the Noon Optimist Club of Galveston and the President of the Board of Directors at the Galveston Seafarers Center.
Among his many awards during the past 13 years, he has won "Teacher of the Year," "Debate Coach of the Year," the prestigious BRIGHT IDEA award from the Texas Schools Public Relations Association, the Channel 11/Great Day Houston Star Furniture Red Apple Teacher of the Month in April 2017 and was named the Regional Magnet Schools of America Teacher of the Year and was a finalist for the national award in 2017.
Mike was recruited to Ball High School in Galveston in 1992 to start its audio video production program. He is the creator of the campus’ three-time award-winning daily show “Good Morning Ball High” and the school’s online internet radio station K-TOR The Tornado.
Before changing careers in 2006, he worked as a human resources professional for over 17 years in leadership positions at several different organizations and companies.
He has a B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Houston and a M.S. in Higher Education from Walden University.
Mike was born and raised in Houston and has resided in the Galveston area since 1990.
